Nearing the End

It's been quite an amazing week... Swamped with deadlines to meet, but yet had enough entertainment to keep me sane...
Block supper on Tuesday... It was nice to see everyone up on B4... although only for a short while... Can't wait for the outing... Thanks Andrew for organizing the supper...

Graduating seniors supper on Wednesday... Food + videos from the past... It was nice looking back at the things that we have done and how far we have come along... Eusoff Hall Batch of 2005/2006, let's make big waves in the world...

MAB Awards yesterday night... Did a short performance with my A Cappella group... wasn't as tight as we're capable of but I hope it was still entertaining... Thanks to the MAB for the award... Thanks to everyone who have put in so much to make Eusoff Hall a better place to live in for everyone else...

And tonight, Alumni Art Exhibition... Right, I'm not an alumni yet but we have been invited to perform at the event... And there'll be a buffet dinner after that, not mentioning a chance to network with the alumni... What an exciting 4 days and it doesn't end there... Weekend's not even here yet...

Something amazing happened yesterday... Was in the lab gathering some additional data... did a test on the previous sample which showed about 10mW maximum power... and it shot up to more than 140mW... too crazy to be true... so I checked everything... the set up, the current, etc... Couldn't identify what was different this time... Called my colleague which was an IMRE research engineer... He spent about 10 minutes with me trying to figure out how this results came about...

Finally we realized that happened... A previous set up used a wrong attenuator (something like a calibrator)... so the calibration was all wrong... After changing the attenuator, we got about 6mW...

It was a GOOD scare because if it was really 140mW, I would probably get an award for it... Too bad it didn't happen in the end...

On the bright side, I don't have to retest the samples... That gives me more time to work on my other projects, which are due really soon... Which reminds me, time to get down to those projects...

Ans: 4. The tail is not a leg even if you call it a leg.
Lesson: People can call you names, but that doesn't make you what they call you.

13 in 3

What? 5-0? I'm getting delirious... followed the match until half time and Liverpool were 3-0 up by then... and taht wasn't enough... went for 2 more... could have been more though but hey, I'm not complaining...

That's 13 goals in 3 consecutive matches... against Real Madrid, Man U and Aston Villa... seriously, you don't see this every year... and btw, I gave a smirk when the commentator said "2 weeks ago, Liverpool were trailing Man U by 11 goals in terms of goal difference... now Liverpool is ahead by 2 just after 2 matches" Now this is huge...

The match saw the best of Liverpool... from Reina's ability to move the ball forward into an attacking movement... to Gerrard's expertise in penalties and free kicks... and not forgetting how dangerous they can be even when Torres doesn't score...

Way to go, team...

Magnificient Liverpool FC

It has been a long weekend so far... The beginning of the weekend started with a project meeting Friday evening and continued with a Jalan Bukit Timah visit to get food for Chingay supper, MAB Awards meeting, and Chingay supper which I unfortunately had to miss... Went to bed at around 6 a.m.

Got up at 8 a.m. for the Social Entrepreneurship Workshop, and went for DP piecing after that until night... Piecing went well and I am indeed proud of the performance put up by our Eusoffians... "You've Got a Friend in Me" is going to be an amazing show...

After dinner, it was time for A Cappella practice but we had to postpone it to today because we couldn't get hold of a venue to practice with mikes... It was a blessing in disguise as I was feeling very tired from the long 2 days, slept straight after until this morning...

Woke up early in the morning to check the results of the Liverpool - Man U match as I left the Live Score applet on... 4-1 to Liverpool... amazing... what a turnaround of events... 4 seems to be the number of the week after the 4-0 defeat of Real Madrid in mid-week... Anticipating a strong run from Liverpool to the finish line... hopefully it will end up with us being number 1... You can read the report of the match here... Fantastic, just utterly fantastic...

End of the Road

It's the end of the road,
Time for you and I to decide,
To stay here, turn back, or to hide.

It was a long and costly journey,
But it was worth every penny.

Could there possibly be another road?
Shall we explore, look around more?

What if there's another road?
Do we take it, less we make it?
Do we not, less we break it?

When there are questions, there are doubts,
When there are doubts, there are thoughts,
Thoughts will lead to reflection,
Reflection must lead to decision.

Time to decide, there's no more reason to hide,
It's the end of the road.

Another Day in Paradise

Missed my Optoelectronics class this afternoon after a bout of oversleeping... but the positive is that I got a good rest and managed to squeeze in some productive work before dinner... so it's not all bad...

Taking time off now to cool myself down before starting on my thesis...

I received a few SMSes with regards to Zhang Xiaoou, an NUS student recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, which could turn fatal... The treatment costs S$400000 (yes, that's close to half a million) and she needs all the help she can get...

Being a non-citizen/non-PR, she is not eligible for a lot of assistance funds available out there... Hence, one of her best hopes is for contributions from friends or friends of friends...

Spread the story, if anyone is willing to make a donation, please do so...

You can read more here...
http://blog.sina.com.cn/blessxiaoou

The least we can do is pray for generous donors to be aware of this and that she'll be able to get the necessary treatment...

Be thankful that we are alive and are able to spend another day in paradise...

The Story of My Sunday Morning

I woke up this morning,
Feeling kind of new,
The cough has subsided,
and so has the flu.

I was helping out at the toddlers' Sunday School,
and I had to sit on a little stool,
Had breakfast with Ian and Sze-Phing,
The company was good and the meal satisfying.

I went to bank in some cash,
This I did without much hassle,
The world feels lighter now,
'coz I have less hair on my head to handle.

Downtime

I've been hit by a virus of some sort... been keeping me slow and unproductive for the past few days... Once I recover (hopefully soon), I'll need to start working on my FYP thesis draft, catch up on Optoelectronics and pay more attention to my 2 term projects...

Now, how do I get rid of this bug?

Rainbow Connection

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions but only illusions
Rainbows have nothing to hide

What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it the Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers, and me

Have you been half asleep and have you heard the voices?
'Cause I heard them calling my name
Is it the sweet sound that calls the young sailors
The voice might be one and the same

I've heard it too many many times to ignore it
hmmm... that I think it could be
Well someday we'll find it the Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers, and me

SOMEDAY WE'LL FIND IT, THE RAINBOW CONNECTION
THE LOVERS, THE DREAMERS, AND ME

Sun + Thunder?

It is sunny but I hear thunder... one of those rare instances where what you feel or see does not match what you hear...

I'm back from a good weekend in Ipoh... back for more challenges... never felt better about it...

Digging DEEP...
