The Surge

I'm feeling the surge right now... It's been very productive these few days, which is good... have not felt like this since the start of this year...

I'm a steamroller moving onto 2nd gear...

Friday the 16th

For the second day in a row, had Sushi Tei for lunch... Good food without a doubt...

While waiting to meet the Ipoh gang in Buona Vista, I went to VivoCity and strolled the bookshop... Also had an old school kaya toast, half boiled eggs and coffee meal there, which tasted fantastic... Nothing beats this classic combination, especially for a small town boy... and it was only 2 dollars... That was enough to make my day...

Had XO fish noodles in Holland V for only the 2nd time in my 4+ years here... didn't taste as good as the first time but still good... at the end of the day, it's the company that counts...

It was a day well spent...

The Road Ahead

It was a warm night... the air was still and I would've had a sleepless night but for my fan... think it was a good purchase after all...

And so the time has come for me to do battle... Things are going to get rocky but then the challenge of life is what keeps us alive... Besides, the road will be smooth once I get rid of the
bumps and potholes...

How Much?

At the end of the day, how much do I want it?

Need to Stay Cool

Fan's out... spent the night with natural ventilation and it didn't feel bad at all... luckily it was quite 'airy' throughout my sleep... I expect the afternoons to be terribly warm though... Have been wanting to get a new fan for a while now, and I guess this is the perfect opportunity...

I need a mission, quick...

West Sumatera Earthquake

Sept 30th 2009, disaster struck Indonesia and more than 600 were killed in one single event. My sympathies go out to the family of the victims. Life will still go on, but I can only imagine the pain that these people have to go through.

Further up north in Singapore, a tremor was felt throughout the country, especially in high rise buildings. In a way, we are lucky to be positioned just outside the danger zone of earthquakes and volcano eruptions. With high rise buildings all around us, the casualty rate would’ve been greater.

As always, when these tragedies happen, we see the goodwill of other nations come into action. Already, assistance in terms of funds and manpower is pouring in. Australia has provided A$250000 to a local NGO, US has set USD300000 (immediate) and 3 million dollars for reserves, China is providing USD500000. The European Commission has set aside 3 million Euros to aid the victims.

Saudi Arabia, provided an aircargo plane, with two units of trucks, an ambulance disaster response unit, a search and rescue team, and sniffer dogs to identify victims of the disaster. Singapore has sent a 42 team Civil Defence Force together with emergency supplies, including temporary shelters. Malaysia are sending a team of doctors to provide medical support to those affected.

These acts of kindness touch our hearts and it goes to show that there is good in the world after all. My prayers are for the victims of the earthquake and for the men and women aiding them.

Say Hello To The Weekend

And the weekend is here once again…

Vista, despite some irritating features, has some useful features as well…

Can’t wait for Windows 7 to be released though…

Think Thoughts

Thoughts that just float by,
Need neither action nor mention.
Thoughts that get stuck in the mind,
Need to be set into motion.

Thoughts that are too complex,
Often bugs us the whole day.
Thoughts that are too simple,
Often never see the light of day.

Thoughts can haunt us,
Just as memories do.
Thoughts can hurt us,
Just as enemies do.

Thoughts make you believe things,
With little or no evidence.
Thoughts make you deny things,
With full and total confidence.

With my thoughts these lines were created,
Much is their contribution.
With my thoughts so complicated,
Much is the retribution.

The Hunger

Everyone felt the tremor yesterday, so it was real... I felt it while sitting on my chair, for a while I thought my chair was shaky and I checked many times... This was the first time I felt anything of this sort, although the tremor was only a mild one, given that I'm staying in the North East of Singapore...

Then I received the NewsFlash from my phone, stating that there have been earthquakes in Sumatera which caused fire as well... and many more SMSes after that to update on the earthquake... A regional warning for Tsunami went out and was later retracted... end of story for now...

It's October now, and I'm hungrier than ever... how long more can I take?
